Parent Survey
Parent Survey
Exeter School District Middle Grade Parent Survey
The leadership of the Cooperative Schools is considering a number of policy changes at the school,
including whether students should be taught in classes where students of different abilities are taught together,
or in separate classes, so students of different ability can receive separate instruction.
Parents and educators support both positions and there are good reasons to support each.
We would like to get your opinion, as parents of students who are currently in middle school or
who will be entering middle school in coming years.
Please take a few moments to complete this survey and be assured that your answers are completely confidential
and your identity will not be known.

When completed, please fold so that the return address of the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, Thompson
Hall, Durham, NH 03824 is clearly displayed.
Also, thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.  Please complete and return the survey by XXXXXX.

For each question below, please circle the number that best represents your opinion.

For this survey,
a
homogeneous classroom is defined as separating students with different academic abilities in a subject into separate
classrooms (i.e. students with above average proficiency in math in one classroom for math class and students with below
average proficiency in math in another classroom for math class.)

A
heterogeneous classroom is defined as integrating students with various academic abilities in a subject in the same
classroom.

For each of the following grade levels, please circle whether you think each subject should be taught in homogeneous
